授業の概要 An in-depth look at American culture with occasional references to distinctions between American and other western cultures. 
授業の到達目標 To appreciate the various arguments made on frequently debated topics. Students will learn how to examine opinions of English speakers critically yet express differing views politely. 
授業計画 To begin with journal comments on the preceding week's news events. Featured text topic will be examined with some research required to support varying opinions either agreeing or disagreeing with the book's criticisms. . A short writing will be be required weekly.

自学自習についての情報 If you read newspapers and are familiar with current events, it will help in the learning of English conversation. 
授業の形式 Students will enjoy discussing a wide variety of popular cultural issues. This will be complemented by news articles which relate to the points which we cover. 
評価の方法(評価の配点比率と評価の要点) Attendance, participation, written composition for final evaluation. 
その他 All students who enjoy communication about differences between western and Japanese culture are welcome.
Noting interesting points about culture as seen in everyday Japan will also be important.
