授業の概要 |
This course will take a structured approach to intermediate academic English writing. Learners will be guided on paragraph organization and the writing processes necessary for writing long academic papers such as a graduation thesis. Emphasis will be placed on developing academic style and vocabulary appropriate for academic contexts. Students will learn to craft clear and concise thesis statements and topic sentences to support their arguments. They will enhance their ability to create coherence and cohesion in their writing through the effective use of transitions and referencing and build the foundational skills necessary for success in academic writing. |

1. Students can use formal academic vocabulary and avoid colloquial language. 2. Students can use transition words, referencing, and pronouns to create logical flow. 3. Students can develop a focused thesis statement and supporting topic sentences that align with the essay's main idea. 4. Students can write a clear and well-organized academic essay with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. |

There will be weekly homework exercises both online and in the textbook. The main assignments for the course will be two long papers: one at midterm and a longer one at the end of the term. |
